Monash University in collaboration with the Emerging Writers’ Festival is proud to present the Monash Undergraduate Prize for Creative Writing, a prestigious prize for emerging literary voices.
Now in its seventh year, the Prize is a significant literary award for new and emerging writers. The prize is open to both Australian and New Zealand university students, enrolled in either an undergraduate or honours degree. All types of creative writing will be accepted, including short stories, non-fiction narrative and narrative verse.
The winning entry will be published in Kill Your Darlings and Verge, Monash University’s annual creative writing anthology. In addition, the winning author(s) will have the option to work closely with Verge editors to create a second piece of work in the second half of 2018, to be published in the anthology. These additional pieces will be paid at Verge’s contributor rate of $250.
Monash has been the long-term education partner of the Emerging Writers’ Festival, and the Prize strengthens both parties’ commitment to providing learning and career development opportunities for emerging literary voices.
