Lisa Greenaway is a sound artist, producer, DJ, and broadcaster. Her passion for sound and story began at Melbourne’s Triple R FM in the 1990s, where she first brought spoken word and sound together for the programs “Howlings in the Head” and “SubText.” Through the 90s/2000s Lisa collaborated with poets and musicians as a spoken word artist, produced events blending poetry, music, sound art and visual art, and co-edited “Going Down Swinging” for five years. Trained as a specialist audio arts engineer at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Since 2009 Lisa has worked as DJ LAPKAT in Australia and Europe, producing collaborative tracks with poets and live mixes of multilingual spoken word, hip hop and poetry with ‘folktronic’ music from around the world. Works include collaborations with Farkhonda Akbar and Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa, and poetry film with Farkhonda Akbar / Jutta Pryor and Nick Azidis / Rose Staff. LAPKAT presents the monthly radio show / podcast La Danza Poetica for Groovalizacion Radio and Chimeres Greece, shortlisted in 2017 for Best World Music show in the Online Radio Awards. Research into language, linguistics and oral storytelling globally, in concert with philosophies of deep listening and sound meditation, informs Lisa’s desire to develop truly immersive listening experiences.
